Lawmakers are considering a new bill to tackle concussions for student athletes at the high school level.
A new bill would require high school athletic trainers to compile monthly reports on the number of students who suffer concussions. It’s a practice many say they’re already doing. “We do keep regular records” says Devin Spears, a central Illinois high school athletic trainer. “When we do get the kids to see the physicians, the physicians wants to know what happened, what were the circumstances, and what were they like when this occurred.”
In 2009, close 250,000 children in the U.S. were treated in U.S. for a concussion.
