State Leaders Working To Reform Criminal Justice System

Governor Bruce Rauner (R-IL) and lawmakers not be working together on a budget, but they are working to reform the state’s criminal justice system.

They’re considering three bills dealing with judicial sentencing, electronic monitoring, and providing offenders ID cards when they leave prison.  The goal is to help those who get out of prison and stay out.

“We need ways to help our offenders not make the same mistake again and fall back into repeating a crime and going back to prison or being punished again,” said Rauner.

Rep. John Cabello (R-68th) is the co-sponsor of one of the bills.
