Alligator in Chicago lagoon

State News

CHICAGO — There’s something in the water.

Chicago Police have spent Tuesday looking into reports of an alligator or possibly a crocodile in the Humboldt Park lagoon.

In an update, police say they’ve independently confirmed an alligator in the lagoon.

State reptile specialists say it’s between four and five feet long.

It will be humanely trapped tonight and relocated to a zoo for a veterinary evaluation.

No word yet on where it came from.
