JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — State Police are investigating an incident at the Illinois School for the Deaf.

A state police sergeant sent this statement to WCIA:

ISP is investigating an alleged incident that happened in April at the Illinois School for the Deaf. The investigation is ongoing.

The Illinois Association of the Deaf sent a letter to the governor and several other officials about the incident. They say they were made aware of an explicit video on a porn site that may have involved two students from the school, both who may have been minors.

They say they are concerned with the “social and emotional well-being” of the students and are asking for a thorough investigation.

Below is the full letter to state officials:

Dear Governor Rauner, Mr. Dimas, Mr. Smith, and Ms. Wade:

On behalf of the Illinois Association of the Deaf (IAD), we write this letter to you from a place of great concern for the welfare and safety of the students at Illinois School for the Deaf. Over the weekend, our board learned there was a posting of an explicit video on PornHub, a porn site, allegedly involving two students from the Illinois School for the Deaf (ISD), both who may have been minors at the time of the filming. The video was also allegedly filmed in one of the bathrooms at ISD.

With the number of reports received from concerned members about ISD throughout the past several years, we are concerned with the social and emotional well-being of ISD students. We request a thorough investigation and for those responsible for the students’ welfare and safety to be held accountable.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Respectfully,

Illinois Association of the Deaf Executive Board
