State Police Looking for Man Who Escaped After Arrest in Rockford


Illinois State Police are looking for a man who escaped police custody after an arrest at Rockford Memorial.

Mario Denwiddie fled from the hospital after an arrest for driving while license suspended, resisting a police officer and aggravated battery to a police officer. He was hospitalized following that arrest, but got away.

Denwiddie is described as a black male, 5’11”, 160 lbs with short brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a hospital gown. He has ties to Freeport and Beloit.

Authorities say he left RMH possibly in a burgundy Ford Expedition with Wisconsin plates 720KDU.

Anyone with information on Denwiddie’s whereabouts is asked to call Illinois State Police at (815) 239-1152.
