Lowe’s awarded Harlem High School $5,000 on Monday morning. School officials say the money will go to the “Grow Your Success” program, which will show students the entrepreneurial side of growing and selling plants.
“I just gave it a shot,” said teacher Diana Hartmann, who applied for the grant. “The worst could be that we didn’t get it. But, we were lucky enough to win and it’s going to benefit… hundreds of students here.”
In May, the students will hold a plant sale to help raise money for the program.
