A SwedishAmerican nurse was honored for the lengths she went to reunite a mother with her son.
The hospital named Anita Bowers as the “Daisy of the Year” winner, an award given to a nurse for their compassionate care and clinical skills. Bowers drove a mother to Madison after her son was airlifted there for a large mass in his brain. Bowers said she’s honored to receive the award, but is more excited about how the patient is doing now.
“When I dropped mom off, I had no idea, and so just to know that he’s still there is very special,” said Bowers.
The family Bowers helped couldn’t attend Tuesday’s ceremony because of a doctor’s appointment in Madison.
