“It wasn’t a very pleasant feeling to see myself,” said Shana Marotta. At 36, she weighed in at 314 pounds.
“My belly was big, I looked like I was pregnant,” said Marotta.
But instead of adding another member to the family, Shana Marotta, a mom of five, added numbers to the scale. The pounds are not only physically oppressive for Marotta, but it weighed on her mind too.
“It was exhausting,” said Marotta, “That is the only way that I can explain. It is exhausting.”
She did what many of us do and she turned to food, but for her it worked.
“About 2 months ago, I reached the point of losing half my body weight so 157 pounds are gone, see ya!”
A stunning success captured by a before-and-after picture. It took three years for Marotta to get to her now-size 5 physique. She spent a lot of time figuring out food.
“I’ve always loved to cook,” explained Marotta, “so I completely changed the way I cook things the ingredients that I use.”
She’s swapping out straight sugar for dates and blending them with a variety of nuts to create healthy energy bars, and dishing up dips and other foods to her friends who said she was onto something.
“A girl had called me and said, ‘I want to try some of your food,'” said Marotta. “I had her and another friend over for lunch one day and they said that ‘if you cooked, we would buy it.’So that next day is when I started”
Marotta served up Tastefully Healthy Rockford online, a delivery service for health foods, about a year ago to help others fighting fat while also battling bland food.
“We want to make it exciting and we want to make it delicious,” said Marotta. “We want to keep people interested and sticking with it.”
Spicing up snack-time with her sriracha black bean hummus, and mixing up main courses with spaghetti squash and turkey meatballs while not skimping on what makes food so delicious.
You can order the healthy dishes online and delivered to your workplace, for free.
