Help could soon be coming for Stephenson County residents who are dealing with flooding.
The county board chairman signed a disaster declaration.
The declaration essentially asks the state or federal government to provide disaster assistance. Emergency management workers will have to assess the damage first before any kind of funding is sent to Stephenson County.
More than a dozen roads remain closed. The Red Cross is helping residents who haven’t been able to return home since last week’s heavy rain and rapid snow melt.
