Cedarville resident Quentin Howarth has won the top prize in an Illinois Lottery scratch off game.

Lottery officials say Howarth scratched an Illinois Lottery Sapphire Blue 7s ticket and instantly won a top prize of $250,000.

Howarth bought his winning ticket at Mobil, 1111 South West Street in Freeport, and tells lotterly officials he was sitting in his truck in the store parking lot when he scratched it. “I went back into the store to have them double check my ticket and confirm that I just won a quarter of a million dollars!” He says he plans to pay bills and put the remainder of his windfall in the bank for now.

Mobil received a $2,500 bonus, one percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket.

Sapphire Blue 7s is a $5 instant ticket that offers more than 100,000 prizes of $25 or more and a top prize of $250,000.  Of the seven $250,000 top prizes available, two have not yet been claimed.
