The Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office says they’ve interviewed the subject at the center of Tuesday’s attempted child abduction attempt and says the report was unfounded.
The Sheriff’s department released a statement via their Facebook page on Wednesday stating that they had made contact with the subject and determined the allegations of attempted child abduction to be unfounded.
According to the initial report, employees at a Mobil gas station in Cedarville had prevented a man from luring a 13-year-old boy to his truck.
A photo of the man in question was circulated in a press release.
Here’s the statement from the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office:
The subject in the photo has been identified and interviewed about the incident. It has been determined that the allegations of an attempted child abduction were determined to be unfounded. Thank you to all for your help in this matter.
