Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office Reminding Drivers to Stay Off Closed Roads

Following reports of cars and trucks driving on closed roads, authorities in Stephenson County are reminding drivers that doing so can result in stiff penalties.

Those penalties can range from a traffic ticket to a class A misdemeanor. The misdemeanor offense could result in jail time and a $500 fine.

Police remind citizens that closed roads are issued for the safety of drivers, pedestrians and first responders.
