Stolen handgun and more recovered in Rockford traffic stop

Illinois State Police pulled over a drunk driver, and find multiple firearms – at least one stolen – in his car.

At 11:15 p.m. Wednesday night, An Illinois State Police trooper stopped a vehicle driven by Jose Delgado, 31, on Route 251 near Y Boulevard for a traffic violation. 

Delgado had a stolen pistol from Warren County, as well as another semi-automatic pistol and an AK-47 with two 30-round magazines, in his car. The arresting officer was able to detain Delgado and take him into custody without incident.

He was arrested on a Winnebago County warrant for failing to appear for court and charged with Possession of Stolen Firearm, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and several other weapons and traffic related offenses.
