Stolen vehicle, weapons charges facing Chicago man after police chase in Jo Daviess

Jo Daviess Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Chicago man accused of stealing a car, crashing it, and then running from police.

A deputy spotted the stolen vehicle going 90 m.p.h. down Highway 20 at around 8 p.m. Wednesday night. The deputy then chased the car west toward the town of Elizabeth but lost sight of it.

Once in town, the deputy located the car, crashed in a yard and with a handgun inside.

K-9 officers were called in and they located a suspect, 21-year-old Tavon Williams.

Williams faces multiple charges including Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
