A Martinsburg strip club’s marketing ad has people talking, on Facebook that is.

A recent post on the Lust Club and Steakhouse page Welfare Wednesdays, EBT get in free, VIP, Section 8, complementary government cheese. The Lust marketing team said, it’s an effort to get attention and they’re doing just that.

“We had ‘white trash’ previously, so this really isn’t the first time we’ve done this,” said Jason Schaffer, a part of the marketing team.

The post shows a cartoon depiction of a woman with two babies.

“His [cartoonist] thought process was to have sort of an equal opportunity by having one baby and one baby by the other.”

While most Facebook comments are going along with the joke, some others are not having it. One saying, “no class at all showing a woman breastfeeding with a cigarette in her mouth,” another “disgusting,” and one “this might be too far man LOL.”

“We didn’t expect to get where we are with hundreds and hundreds of interactions and views with what we posted,” said Justin Whitman, also part of the marketing team.

And if the club took it too far, this is how they respond:

“I was born in Charleston. I don’t think this is a knock on our state,” said Schaffer. He adds, “We understand maybe we’re not for everybody, but the people who enjoy it, really enjoy it and that’s what this is all about.”

Despite good and negative responses from the community, Lust employees say they’ll have more jokes like these.

Lust employees say there will be no such event as “Welfare Wednesdays.”
