Illinois spends the most on public school administrators per student than any other state in the country, according to a new study.
The Metropolitan Planning Council found that Illinois spends over $540 per student on administrative, non-teacher costs, more than double the national average.
Illinois also has the most school districts in the country, with 852.
The study recommended eliminating some of the smaller school district administrators and sharing services with others, putting more money back in the classroom.
