Summer book sale raises money for domestic abuse victims

A domestic abuse program is holding a book sale to help raise funding. VOICES of Stephenson County hosted a summer used book sale kicked off this morning, selling a wide variety of new and used books – some rare and collectible – and DVDs and CDs.

The sale at their location at 1401 Crestwood Drive goes through Sunday and the store manager says the money raised for the program will stay local.

Store manager Diane Leverton said, “Everything that we make here goes to VOICES of Stephenson County. VOICES is an organization that gives free help to victims of domestic violence or sexual abuse. We are basically their one and only fundraiser, anymore.”

The sale goes through Sunday, with another sale planned in November.
