A gas line explosion rocked a suburb of Madison Tuesday night.

It happened in downtown Sun Prairie just before 6:30 p.m. Everything within a half mile of the explosion has been evacuated. Several buildings were severely damaged.

There were reported injuries to two firefighters and a police officer.

It’s believed a contractor hit the gas line while working, causing a leak and subsequent explosion.
