A Beloit man accused of a shooting on Oak Street on August 1st has been arrested in Janesville, authorities said Monday.
According to the Beloit Daily News, Deangelo Thomas, 20, of Beloit, was arrested around 10 a.m. Saturday.
Thomas was wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred on the 700 block of Oak Street on August 1st, in which 41-year-old male was shot in the abdomen when he tried to intercede in the robbery of a 15-year-old victim, was shot in the legs.
Both victims survived the shooting.
Police say officers attempted to make contact with Thomas and another subject in the area of South Grant and King Street in Janesville on Saturday. Both men fled through the neighborhood before being apprehended by police.
Police say a second suspect in the Oak Street shooting has yet to be identified, but is described as a black male, 5’8″, with a thin-to-average build.
A pickup truck suspected of being used in the robbery was found last week by Beloit police.
Thomas was arrested for outstanding warrants of bail jumping, disorderly conduct, substantial battery, possession of narcotics and obstructing an officer.
