Rockford Police have announced that 26-year-old Marquell Longs, the suspect in the murder of a woman at a Rockford Citgo gas station, is in custody.

Longs was arrested by Rockford Police and the U.S. Marshalls Fugitive Task Force at a residence in the 1600 block of 10th Street shortly after 2 p.m. Thursday.

Longs was wanted in connection with the shooting death of 37-year-old Jennifer Jones that occurred shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday morning, November 11th, in the parking lot of the Citgo gas station at 4315 Auburn Street.

The coroner say Jones was shot in the chest. She was alive when they arrived on-scene, but she was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Another victim, a 25-year-old man, later arrived at a local hospital suffering from gunshot wounds.

An $10 million arrest warrant was issued for Longs following an investigation by detectives with the Rockford Police Department.

He has been charged with First Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon.
