STEPHENSON COUNTY, Ill. (WTVO) — A man wanted on a warrant was so impressed by the K9 officer who tracked him for 2.5 miles that he posed for a photo, in handcuffs, congratulating the officer who arrested him.

According to the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department, Deputy Metzler and his K9 partner Cliff responded to a call in Stephenson County to help track a suspect.

The suspect, 34-year-old Cody Saxby, was wanted on a domestic battery warrant out of Stephenson County and a Department of Corrections warrant out of Wisconsin.

Police say Saxby had fled on foot, and so K9 Cliff was deployed to locate him, and was able to track Saxby more than two miles to find him.

Saxby was allegedly so impressed with K9 Cliff’s tracking ability, that he congratulated Deputy Metzler by shaking hands for a photo.
