Friday is National Sock Monkey Day and cancer patients at SwedishAmerican Hospital in Rockford got a surprise to celebrate.
Patients were gifted homemade sock monkeys to brighten their day.
Organizers say National Sock Monkey Day is one of their favorite events at the hospital.
“We do a lot of fun things for the patients throughout the year, and this is probably one of our favorites,” said Natalie Wilson. “Just because sock monkeys are part of the Rockford history and part of our community, and the patients get excited about it and enjoy receiving one.”
The Sock Monkey Madness Festival takes place Saturday, March 2nd at the Midway Village Museum from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The festival allows everyone to virtually travel around the globe with their sock monkey to experience different cultures and customs.
