ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A Stateline tradition celebrates the founding of a local hospital.
Departments from SwedishAmerican decorated wheelchairs for their annual wheelchair race.
The teams normally race outside, but they couldn’t because of the weather.
The Rockford Park District donated the wheelchairs.
SwedishAmerican’s CEO Dr. Michael Born says it’s a great bonding experience for everyone involved.
“The fact that they could put on their costumes, and we can laugh and cheer and so on, it builds camaraderie and a sense of teamwork, which is so important in health care,” Dr. Born said.
This was SwedishAmerican’s 108th anniversary.
