SwedishAmerican announced Monday that the hospital has received a grant designed to help them consolidate patient records into an electronic system.
The Workforce Connection awarded a $166,000 grant to the hospital to cover the cost of training its staff on a new electronic health record system, which will allow doctors and nurses at both Swedes and UW Health to access patient information, all in one system.
“The Workforce Connection provides financial resources for businesses seeking to train either new employees or their existing workforce and this grant is the perfect match for Swedes,” said The Workforce Connection Executive Director Lisa M. Bly. “This program supports employers in Winnebago, Boone and Stephenson Counties as they compete in the global economy with well-developed talent. Health Care is one of the sectors identified in our Regional Workforce Plan, along with manufacturing, transportation/logistics and information technology.”
“SwedishAmerican is thankful to The Workforce Connection Board for affording us the opportunity to further train, develop and grow our Associates,” said SwedishAmerican Vice President of Human Resources Jerry Guinane. “The ultimate goal of the training is to prevent delays in communication and help our associates be more efficient in the new EHR once it officially goes live July 1.”
