‘Take Your City’ Anti-Violence Rally Held in Rockford

News

Rockford area clergy came together on Saturday in the hopes of reducing the city’s violence by spreading the Word of God.

The organization Victory Outreach held a ‘Take Your City’ event Saturday afternoon at Fairgrounds Park. Free food and live entertainment were served after a march through the heart of Rockford, down both East and West State Street, meeting at the park.

Victory Outreach officials say that the violence in the Forest City has gotten too far out of hand, and they believe the only way to change it is to show people success stories of those who have been able to turn their lives around.

“We truly believe that if we come together as a community, that we can affect those that don’t understand who Jesus is and we can change this community,” pastoral staff member Jamah Taylor, with Victory Outreach, said. “We can turn this thing around.”

This was the first event Victory Outreach has done like this but say they have more planned for the future.
