A blown tire was the cause of a tanker truck rollover that closed eastbound lanes of the U.S. 20 Bypass early Monday morning.
Rockford police say the tractor-trailer was traveling westbound just west of the 20th St. overpass when it’s left front tire blew out. The truck then veered into the center median where it rolled and slid into the eastbound lanes, blocking eastbound traffic.
Fortunately, the driver was not hurt and because he was carrying milk, there were no hazardous materials involved. It did take nearly four hours, however, until the scene could be cleared and the highway fully re-opened.
