Rockford Police officers arrested a teen suspect for handgun possession after he jumped out of a car and led them on a foot chase.

Rockford Police Housing Authority officers attempted to stop a Chevy Impala shortly before 4 p.m. on Monday for a minor traffic violation, but the driver failed to stop. When he reached the intersection of North Winnebago Street and Locust Street, the passenger jumped out of the car and ran.

After a foot chase, the officers apprehended the suspect, identified as 18-year-old Dionte Holliman, at a house in the 500 block of North Winnebago Street, where police say he was found to be in possession of a handgun.

Holliman was charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, No FOID card, and Resisting/Obstructing an Officer.

He was taken to the Winnebago County Jail.

The driver of the impala fled the scene and has not yet been caught. Anyone with information is asked to call Rockford Police at 815-966-2900 or CrimeStoppers at 815-963-7867
