Teen sentenced for second-degree murder for 2016 home invasion

A 19-year-old man has been sentenced for his part in a deadly home invasion in 2016.

David Phorasavong was sentenced to 180 days in jail and four years of probation for pleading guilty to second-degree murder for his involvement in a home invasion that resulted in the death of Manuel Ruvalcaba, 17.

Three teens, Phorasavong, Melissa Alvarez, and Ruvalcaba broke into a home in the 4600 block of Manheim with the intention of robbing the homeowner who overpowered them, wrestled away the gun, and shot Ruvalcaba. He died at the scene.
