Three people are hurt, including two Winnebago County Deputies, following a car chase in Rockford.
Around midnight, Deputies began following a car after they witnessed a traffic violation. As they tailed the vehicle they saw the driver throw items out of the window, possibly drugs or a weapon, near the intersection of Whitman and Rockton.
Deputies then attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the suspect fled. As police pursued, the suspect blew through a red light at 2nd and E. State. The Deputies then collided with another vehicle that was headed eastbound on State. The suspect vehicle managed to get away.
Both pursuing Deputies and the driver of the vehicle they collided with were hurt. Their injuries are described as non-life-threatening.
No arrests have been made. Police describe the suspect vehicle as a black, four-door Pontiac sedan.
