Rockford police chase down thieves who allegedly robbed a Loves Park gun store.
Police report that at around 6:33 p.m. on Monday, an officer spotted a stolen, white Dodge Caravan that was allegedly involved in a burglary to a gun store in Loves Park the night before.
The Caravan, which was occupied by three juveniles, fled northbound on Central Avenue at Riverside Boulevard. The pursuit took place through Rockton, Roscoe, Boone County, Machesney Park, Loves Park and Rockford as the driver avoided multiple stop sticks before crashing into a tree at the corner of Halstead and Searles Avenue.
All three suspects fled on foot and broke into an unoccupied home in the area of Sablewood Drive, where they were arrested by police.
A gun was recovered from the Caravan.
A 16-year-old male faces multiple charges including Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Fleeing in a Stolen Vehicle, Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Person Under 18, Resisting Arrest and a Parole Violation.
A 15-year-old male was charged with Conspiracy to Possess a Stolen Vehicle, Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Person Under 18, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Resisting Arrest, Parole Violation and No FOID card.
A 16-year-old male was released to a parent and charged with Resisting Arrest.
More criminal charges are pending related to the burglary.
