Three teenagers, all under the age of 17, were arrested Sunday after stealing a car then crashing it in the snowy conditions.
Officers located the stolen vehicle around 10 p.m. in the area of Preston and Tay Streets. When they attempted to pull it over, the vehicle sped off. Because of the snow and slippery conditions, the car slid off the roadway and hit a fence on Avon Street. Five to six people fled on foot, police were able to catch three of them.
A 12-year-old male, 14-year-old male and 16-year-old female were all charged with unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, criminal trespass to a vehicle and resisting police. The 12-year-old was also served a warrant for a probation violation.
The two males were lodged at the Winnebago County Juvenile Center, the female was released to a guardian.
