Three teens are taken into custody Sunday night after police locate a vehicle reported stolen out of Rockford.

Shortly after 10 p.m., officers were in the 1000 block of School Street when they spotted a Lexus that had been reported stolen from the Planet Fitness parking lot on S. Alpine earlier that night. When they tried to pull it over, the vehicle turned the wrong way down a one-way street, before pulling over.

Several people fled from the car, including the driver, while two passengers stayed inside. Police were able to chase down the driver, a 16-year-old male. He was found in possession of look-a-like narcotics.

The two passengers who remained in the car, identified as two 17-year-old males, were also taken into custody.

The 16-year-old is charged with unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, possession with intent to deliver a look-a-like substance, fleeing to elude, resisting, no valid driver’s license and disobeying a stop sign. He’s being held at the Juvenile Detention Center.

The 17-year-olds are charged with criminal trespass to a vehicle. Both were released to their parents.
