Three teens, one of which is believed to be involved in several armed robberies, have been arrested.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department says it all began Thursday when deputies with the County’s Tactical Unit attempted to stop a 2006 Ford Fusion. They say the vehicle fled and they pursued it to a dead end at 8th Street and Railroad Avenue, where three teens inside then fled on foot.
A 17-year-old passenger was arrested by Rockford Police.
The 16-year-old driver and a 14-year-old passenger, who the Sheriff’s Department alleges is a member of the so-called ‘Get Money Team’, were tracked down by deputies using a police dog.
The Fusion was reported to have been stolen out of Loves Park, and a 9 mm handgun was located in the car. The investigation led deputies to a stolen 2001 Dodge Caravan.
