ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The Winnebago County Coroner has identified Oscar Castro, 34, as the man killed in a crash Wednesday morning on 20th Street.

According to the coroner’s office, Castro was driving his pickup in the 4600 block of 20th around 12:37 a.m. when a car pulled out of a church parking lot in front of him.

This caused Castro to rear-end the car, losing control of the truck. It rolled over, ejecting him from the vehicle.

He was determined to be beyond resuscitation at the scene, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at 3:12 a.m.

An autopsy concluded his death was caused by blunt trauma to the head.

No charges have been announced; Rockford Police are investigating the crash.
