Trial begins for man accused of stabbing wife to death in 2015

The bench trial of a man accused of stabbing his wife to death got underway on Wednesday.

Prosecutors say 38-year-old Jose Rodriguez-Aranda killed his wife, Martina Chagoya-Espinoza, inside their Great Oaks apartment in November of 2015.

Rodriguez-Aranda was found at the scene suffering from self-inflicted stab wounds.

He is charged with first degree murder and aggravated domestic battery.
