NEW YORK (WCMH) – Dave Johnson, a truck driver from Brooklyn, New York, is the person who won that $298-million Powerball jackpot back in December.

Johnson stepped forward with the winning ticket Friday and claimed his check.

Johnson bought the ticket after Christmas.

He says he had been sick for days but went back to work to get paid. And that morning he says he decided to play Powerball with $5 he had in his pocket.

He says he was so sick he didn’t watch the drawing. And it wasn’t until a few days later that he went back to the gas station to check his ticket and learned he had won.

Johnson decided to take the cash lump sum. And after taxes that comes to $114 million.

“I couldn’t even eat. I’m hungry but my stomach is full. I want to sleep, but i don’t want to sleep. (oh my goodness gracious) I’m still happy,” Johnson said.

ABC 7 reports Johnson already quit his job. He says he plans to stay in New York City and buy a red Porsche.
