Two-Alarm Fire in Downtown Belvidere


Crews are still on the scene of a two-alarm fire in downtown Belvidere.

Firefighters responded to the building at 137 S. State St. at around 8:30 p.m. Belvidere’s Fire Chief says 4-5 people were evacuated as additional units from Rockford, Cherry Valley and Capron were called in to help.

Crews are now checking for hot spots inside the building before leaving the scene. State Street remains blocked off at this time.

The cause of the blaze is unknown at this time.
