Rockford Police say they are investigating two crimes at the Northridge Walmart less than two hours apart.

Police say the first incident occurred at the store, at 3849 Northridge Drive, around 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday. Police say a suspect took merchandise from the store, displayed a firearm, and threatened an employee. The suspect then punctured the tire of a security vehicle as he was leaving.

The suspect is described as a black male between 30-35 years old, 5’9″, 160 pounds, wearing a dark jacket and light colored hoodie.

The second armed robbery happened at 3:30 a.m.

Police say a 57-year-old man was in his truck in the parking lot when he was approached by a suspect in a tan suburban. The suspect had a gun and demanded property from the victim. When the victim threatened to call police, the suspect fled west on Riverside Boulevard.

Police say no one was hurt and nothing was taken in the incident.

Detectives believe the same suspect is involved in both incidents.
