Drug complaints at a Rockford Housing Authority complex have lead to two arrests.
24-year-old Shakeda Barfield and 21-year-old Ivory Holland are in custody. Officers arrested them after searching 548 Ranger Street in the Orton Keyes housing development, late Saturday night.
An eight-year-old child was in the house at the time. The child was turned over to family members at the scene.
The Rockford police’s M3 Streets Team found ammunition, a small amount of an as-of-yet undetermined powder and other evidence of drug distribution inside the home.
Rockford Police Department is a partner with Rockford Housing Authority. In a statement attached to the police department’s press release on the Orton Keyes arrests, Rockford Housing Authority CEO Ron Clewer stated in part, “I am thankful for the continued relationship with the Rockford Police Department. … It is unacceptable that this type of activity occur in our properties or anywhere in the community and I appreciate the work of RPD in helping bring it to an end.”
