The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office is reporting that two people have died as a result of hypothermia in Rockford so far this winter.
The deaths happened in December and January.
On December 30, a 48-year-old woman was found dead in her home on School Street. A welfare check was conducted after she had not been seen in several days. Her home did not have working heat.
On January 6, a 51-year-old man was found dead outside an apartment complex on Trilling Avenue. He was found by a resident lying outside in the snow.
After a complete investigation there was nothing suspicious or out of the ordinary with either death, according to Winnebago County Coroner Bill Hintz.
