Police say two boys pulled from the Kankakee River at the LaSalle Fish and Wildlife Area near the Illinois-Indiana border have died, and a 34-year-old man is being held in connection with their deaths.

On Tuesday night, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources was called to a scene at the wildlife preserve, on the report that two children were in danger of drowning in the river, according to WLS.

They were found some time later.

One of the boys was identified as 4-year-old Levi Patillo from DeMotte, Indidana. The coroner has not yet released information on the second boy.

Eric Patillo is being held on two counts of Neglect of a Dependent Resulting in Death. Police have not confirmed Patillo’s relationship to the boys.
