Two offenders who escaped from a southern Illinois incarceration program are back in custody.
Jerrette Reed and Kevin Rivera were apprehended without incident in a field about one mile west of the Dixon Springs Impact Incarceration Program facility around 9 a.m. Monday morning. The facility is east of Carbondale.
Illinois Department of Corrections staff noticed Reed and Rivera missing around 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Reed is serving a three-year sentence on meth charges while Rivera is serving a five-year sentence on cocaine charges. Both will be transferred to a maximum security prison.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
