Two houses struck by gunfire while residents were inside

Rockford Police say two houses were hit by gunfire in a shooting that took place on Lawndale Avenue on Sunday morning.

Police say the shooting happened around 9:37 a.m., when they were called to the 2100 and 2200 block of Lawndale Avenue for reports of shots fired.

There, officers say they found not one, but two houses that had bullet holes in their exterior. Both houses were occupied at the time, police say.

No injuries were reported and the incident is under investigation.
