Two police officers from the Janesville Police Department are under investigation for two separate incidents in which each was arrested.
Police say the first happened earlier this month when Officer Chad Sullivan traveled with another officer to a Police Explorer’s Conference in Flagstaff, AZ to recruit minority candidates for the department.
While there, Officer Sullivan was arrested by Flagstaff Police for DWI. The police department says that the rental car he was operating was being paid for by the city, and describe the officer’s behavior as additionally concerning because he was representing the Janesville Police Department. An internal investigation is underway in addition to his prosecution by Arizona authorities for the alleged DUI offense.
The second incident happened this past weekend when probationary Officer Thomas Erickson was involved in a disturbance in the area of E. Milwaukee St. and Mt. Zion Ave. that led to his arrest on disorderly conduct charges. In a statement, the police departments says that it is, “conducting an internal investigation and anticipates deciding the continued employment of Officer Erickson in the near future.”
