Two juveniles arrested for Eastmoreland Ave shooting

UPDATED: Two juveniles were arrested for shooting a teen on Eastmoreland Avenue.

Rockford Police were called to the Circle K, 31816 Broadway, at approximately 11 p.m. Wednesday night, where they met with an 18-year-old who had been shot.

The victim reported that he had been walking in 1500 block of Eastmoreland Avenue with two other people when they had an altercation with several men in a vehicle. The passenger of the vehicle fired gunshots, which struck the victim in the torso.

The victim ran to the Circle K, where he met with officers, and was transported to a local hospital. His injuries are not life threatening

Shortly after 11:30 p.m., officers located a silver Chevrolet Impala, which the victim described as the suspect vehicle, near the intersection of Andrews Street and North Central Avenue. The officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, which contained an 18-year-old driver and two juvenile males. A handgun was recovered from the vehicle.

The two juveniles were arrested. The first, a 16-year-old from Rockford, was charged with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapons, and No FOID card. The second, a 15-year-old male, was charged with a Probation Violation. The 18-year-old driver was released without charges.
