Rockford Police have arrested two men believed to be responsible for the armed robbery at the Springfield Avenue Mobil gas station Monday night.
Two clerks were held at gunpoint during the robbery, which took place just after 10 p.m. at the Mobil convenience store at 453 N. Springfield. The employees gave the gunman money before he fled on foot.
When officers arrived to the scene, they located two men in a field behind the gas station. Both were detained. They also brought in a police dog to help investigate. The dog helped locate the handgun believed to be used in the robbery.
As a result of the investigation, the two men who were detained were arrested and charged.
Nickolas Wright, 24, of Rockford, faces charges of armed robbery, possession of a stolen firearm and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. Police also found cocaine on him, leading to an additional charge of possession.
Orentho Hurd, 23, of Rockford, is charged with armed robbery.
