Two people arrested during suspected drug deal, child found in the car

WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. (WTVO) — The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department says two people are in custody after a suspected drug deal in Rockford.

Narcotics investigators witnessed a drug transaction on Monday around 12:30 p.m. near the Walmart on West Riverside Boulevard.

30-year-old Charleston Collins and 25-year-old Jamsine Barfield were both taken into custody.

Deputies say they found crack cocaine and heroin, along with a 1 1/2-year-old child in a car.

Collins was arrested for possession with intent to deliver, resisting a peace office and endangering the life/health of a child.

Barfield was book for possession with intent to deliver and endangering the life/health of a child.
