Two Rockford Residents Arrested After Police Chase

Two Rockford residents are facing charges after attempting to flee from police.

Rockford Police SCOPE officers have arrested 20-year-old Maurice Buchanan, and 22-year-old Bruce Lambert.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Gregory and Kishwaukee streets when they observed a speeding silver Nissan.

Officers tried to pull the vehicle over in the 900 block of S. 3rd St., but it sped off.

It then crashed into a fence in the 1000 block of S. 3rd St.

Several men inside the vehicle fled, but after a brief foot chase officers apprehended Buchanan and Lambert in the 600 block of Pope street.

Officers located a handgun along the suspects’ escape route.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers found crack cocaine.

Buchanan is facing charges of resisting arrest.

Lambert is facing several charges, including disobeying stop signs, hit and run, unlawful use of a weapon, and possession of cocaine with the intent to deliver.

Both subjects were taken to the Winnebago County Jail.
