Two Rockford residents busted in Naperville, 68 pounds of marijuana seized

Edwin Mendoza, 27, and Melissa Tavares, 23, were arrested by Naperville Police on Sunday, December 2nd during a drug investigation.

Police say they were investigating a house on the 4600 block of Fesseneva Court for suspected drug activity. The house, which had been rented from “a popular Internet home rental site” was being used to house a large quantity of cannabis.

Detectives searched the residence and recovered 68 pounds of marijuana, with a street value of $311,000. They also seized two vehicles and more than $4,000 in cash.

Two Rockford residents and a California man were arrested.

Mendoza and Tavares were charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver and Possession of Cannabis Over 5,000 grams.

Cristian Valdivia, 22, of La Puente, California, was charged with Cannabis Trafficking, Possession with Intent to Deliver, and Possession of Cannabis Over 5,000 grams.
