Two Rockfordians to receive Illinois highest achievement award Saturday

Eight people will receive Illinois’ highest honor for professional achievement and public service on Saturday, and two of them are from Rockford.

Pianist, composer, singer and songwriter Emily Bear is just 16 years old and she has already recorded several albums and played some of the most famous venues in the Unites States: Carnegie Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, and even The White House.

Bergstrom chairman Dave Rydell is considered a technology leader in “no-idle” heating and air conditioning, in addition to his service for several non-profit organizations.

Both of them will receive the Order of Lincoln Award during a ceremony Saturday evening at the Coronado Theatre in downtown Rockford.
